Don't let your water heater meet with an untimely end due to premature corrosion....
Save it! Have your tank flushed and the sacrificial anode rod replaced - today!
Over 6 million water heaters are replaced in North America each year - about 10,000 units in Winnipeg alone! Over 97% of them failed due to rust-through corrosion that results in a leaky mess requiring replacement at an installed cost of well over $1K.
STOP premature tank corrosion and extend the life of your water heater substantially, to more than double or even triple the average by performing proper preventive maintenance as prescribed by the manufacturer - for less than 10% of the cost of a new water heater!
All water heaters use what's called a sacrificial anode rod to protect the tank from rusting out. This is the "SECRET" to water heater longevity. Without it, the steel walls of your tank will begin corroding immediately. (Below: New rod at top to completely spent rod at bottom)
The rod is consumed as it protects the tank and must be replaced regularly. It is usually depleted in about 6-10 years and then it takes a few more years for the tank to rust out for an average age of 12 years*. Once the anode rod is exhausted, your tank will quickly start to be eaten from the inside out and then fail.
For additional corrosion protection, thorough flushing is required to remove accumulations at the bottom of your tank that result from anode rod decay and settling of minerals and dirt from the incoming water.
A clean tank promotes a stronger protective reaction with the anode rod, increases the efficiency of heat transfer to the water (gas models), prolongs element life (electric models) and improves water quality as the sediment is a breeding ground for bacteria.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICE
At replacethatrod, we specialize in water heater preventive maintenance - that's all we do! We're proud to say that the first water heaters we've serviced are all still operating cleanly and efficiently to this very day - up to 26 years as of 2024!
Our service usually takes between 1.5 to 2 hours to complete and saves you a great deal of money, frustration and downtime. The service call, including proper tank flushing and anode rod inspection starts at $119.95, while the complete maintenance is only $169.95 for most models and includes:
1) Flushing the tank thoroughly;
2) Replacing the sacrificial anode rod;
3) Testing the T&P (temperature and pressure) valve operation;
4) Functioning the cold water shut-off valve and cleaning the tank drain valve.
It is suggested that you consider flushing/inspection every 3 years, but strongly recommend the complete service be conducted every 6 years at a minimum. Please contact us for a free, no obligation quote for your specific water heater application:

"When your warranty is up, change your anode rod out!"
